Have fun and learn

Painting in watercolor is always an adventure. Learn to make magic with water and color.

Strengthen your techniques, learn new ones, and improve your paintings with personal attention in a supportive, fun atmosphere in Jana's comfortable El Cerrito-area studio.

Class structure

Each session begins with a brief demonstration of watercolor techniques and/or materials. Then there is time for practicing what was demonstrated, work on individual projects, and personal attention and guidance.

Jana helps students develop the skills they need to express their own unique styles, voices and interests. She focuses on enjoying and appreciating the process, not just the end result.

Topics include

• Basic techniques including, washes, glazing, wet-in-wet techniques
• Color; getting to know your pigments
• Watercolor and ink for sketchbooks/journaling
  
• Glass and reflective surfaces
  
• Capturing light/creating illusion of light in your painting
• Still life, flowers, landscape
• People, animals
  
• Textures
